Frequently asked

What counts as an "assessment"?

Triggering the full pipeline for a paper not yet in our database. Lookups of already-assessed papers do not count against your assessment quota — only your lookup quota.

How long does an assessment take?

Typically 45–120 seconds. Priority tiers (Pro/Publisher) front-queue behind any active jobs. Free tier papers join the standard queue, which typically processes within a few minutes.

Can I use assessments in peer review?

Yes, with caveats. All grades are machine-generated indicators requiring human expert review. They are best used as a first-pass filter, not a final editorial decision. See our methodology page.

Is there an academic/non-profit discount?

Yes — we offer 50% off Pro for verified academic institutions and non-profit organisations. Contact us with your institutional email to apply.

What's the data retention policy?

Assessments are stored indefinitely and may be accessed by any API user (they are public quality signals, not private). Raw PDFs are processed and then discarded; we store only extracted text and assessment results.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Monthly plans can be cancelled any time from your dashboard. No prorated refunds — cancellations take effect at the end of the billing period.
